Enforcing the CVAA

October 16, 2013

Listen to attorneys from Wiley Rein’s Communications Group discuss new enforcement practices adopted by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the course of implementing the 21st Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act (CVAA). On October 8, 2013, the FCC began enforcing compliance with two major pieces of the CVAA – accessibility requirements for Advanced Communications Services (ACS) (e.g., VoIP, email and text messages) and web browsers on mobile phones. The FCC has adopted new mechanisms for enforcing these requirements, including the possibility of fines in excess of $1,000,000 for continuing violations.
