The Washington Post Publishes Gary Michel’s Letter to the Editor
Gary A. Michel, an attorney in Wiley Rein’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) group, had a letter to the editor published in The Washington Post on June 29 in which he responded to a three-part series on UAS. “The FAA faces novel challenges in regulating the design, production and operation of aircraft without pilots while ensuring that integration of drones into the national airspace does no harm,” said Mr. Michel, who has more than 30 years’ experience at the FAA, has been a key player in the agency’s UAS rule-making efforts, and was the leading FAA regulations attorney working on UAS airworthiness matters until 2013.
