Robert McDowell Discusses FCC Chairman’s Video Channel Access Proposal
Robert M. McDowell, a partner in Wiley Rein’s Communications Practice, was interviewed yesterday by FOX Business about Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Tom Wheeler’s proposal to give Internet video providers access to broadcast and cable channels.
“The big question is, will they get all the benefits that cable companies have, but none of the obligations that cable companies have,” said Mr. McDowell, who served as an FCC commissioner from 2006 to 2013. “What does it mean about their access to content, but also their obligations to carry other content that they may not want to carry?”
