Robert Walker Discusses Sen. Bob Corker’s Amended Financial Reports

The Wall Street Journal
December 14, 2015

Robert L. Walker, of counsel in Wiley Rein’s Election Law & Government Ethics Practice, was quoted in an article published yesterday in The Wall Street Journal about Sen. Bob Corker’s (R-TN) failure to properly disclose millions in income.

According to the article, Sen. Corker filed amendments late Friday which showed that he failed to properly disclose millions of dollars in income from real estate, hedge funds, and other investments dating back to when he joined the Senate in 2007. Despite the discrepancies, there are no penalties for filing amendments.

“This is not a situation calling for punishment or admonition by the Ethics Committee,” Mr. Walker told The Wall Street Journal. He added that it could be used as a “teaching moment” to “make sure they fully understand these requirements before filing their annual forms.”
