CORES Revisions Proposed

March 2011

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) held a public forum on March 10, 2011, to discuss legal and technical challenges associated with proposed modifications to CORES, the Commission's Registration System.  CORES is the repository of FCC Registration Numbers (FRNs) issued to individuals and entities "doing business with the FCC."  FRN/password combinations currently serve to authenticate most electronic filings at the FCC.  The forum follows the Commission's December 7, 2010 Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) seeking comment on a number of specific proposals related to the proposed overhaul of CORES (more information is available here).
