Federal Election Campaign Act Moves from Title 2 to Title 52 of the U.S. Code

September 2014

Effective September 1, the Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA) moved from Title 2 to Title 52 of the U.S. Code. The change was made so that FECA will be grouped with other laws related to voting and elections. Code sections have been renumbered, but no other changes were made to the text of the law as a result of this change.

The FEC is preparing a new printed book of federal campaign finance laws with updated numbering and will announce when it is available. In the meantime, the Office of Law Revision Counsel of the United States House of Representatives has made electronic versions of a conversion table and of the new Title 52 available. These can be found here along with a chart that details the changes.
