FEC Raises Individual Contribution Limits

March 2005

Forget round numbers that are easy to remember. On February 3, 2005, the FEC announced the revised individual contribution limits for the 2005-2006 election cycle. Per the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002 (BCRA), these limits were increased based upon inflation. The new amounts are reflected in the chart below. Importantly, the contribution limits for individuals to PACs, or PACs to federal candidates, were not indexed to inflation in the BCRA; therefore, they remain the same as they have been—$5,000 per calendar year from an individual to a federal PAC and $5,000 per election from a multi-candidate federal PAC to a federal candidate.
