Conference Chaired by WRF Partner Receives Award of Professional Excellence
Washington, DC—The Association for Continuing Legal Education (ACLEA) has chosen the conference “Rebuilding after Katrina: A Guide to Business and Personal Insurance Claims and Coverage Issues” to receive its Award of Professional Excellence in the Public Interest category. The 2005 conference was organized and co-chaired by Wiley Rein & Fielding Insurance partner Laura A. Foggan and sponsored by the Practising Law Institute (PLI). Partner Dale E. Hausman also served as a speaker.
Recognizing that, as the Gulf Coast struggles to recover from one of the worst natural disasters in U.S. history, a working knowledge of insurance coverage is essential to rebuilding businesses, homes and lives, this conference sought to provide necessary legal information to practitioners nationwide. In addition to the attendees present at PLI's conference center in New York, the seminar was telecast via the Internet to more than 100 additional attendees who participated from other locations. The seminar allowed attendees to gain a better understanding of the many difficult personal and commercial lines insurance coverage issues that are presented in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
ACLEA is a non-profit organization with a membership of more than 400 continuing legal education (CLE) professionals. The “ACLEA’s Best” Awards recipients are selected by their peers to recognize outstanding accomplishment in CLE programming. The annual awards will be presented at the group’s annual meeting in July.
