Wiley Rein to Host “Law Day” Program for DC Students
Washington, DC – On July 20, Wiley Rein will join the DC Bar’s Courts Lawyers and Administration of Justice Section in sponsoring the 2007 summer “Law Day” program for students of the Thurgood Marshall Academy, a public charter high school in the District. Through the Law Day program, and in keeping with the Academy’s unique “law-related” approach to education that integrates issues of justice, law and government into the curriculum, 100 students entering the high school will be introduced to legal topics and problem solving skills.
Wiley Rein has proudly supported Law Day for several years as part of its pro bono initiatives and is pleased to serve as host of this year’s event. Wiley Rein partner Laura A. Foggan, who coordinates the firm’s sponsorship of the Law Day event, commented, “This event is an exciting opportunity for our lawyers to help DC-area students learn about their legal rights and responsibilities and gain skills that will help them be effective participants in our nation’s democracy.”
Thurgood Marshall Academy was founded upon the belief articulated by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall that all children have the right to a first-class education and the opportunity to reach their full potential.
