Wiley Rein Attorneys Recognized for Their Support of Whitman-Walker Clinic

November 20, 2008

Wiley Rein, along with over 30 attorneys and legal support staff, was recognized for its long-standing support of Whitman -Walker Clinic and Whitman -Walker Legal Services by the clinic’s Legal Lines publication.  The firm has handled almost 200 pro bono cases for Whitman -Walker clients and was one of the first law firms to partner with the Clinic to counsel and represent clients through its Social Security Disability Reconsideration Clinic.  Over the past summer, Wiley Rein summer clerks, under attorney supervision, took on eight new Social Security cases and have already achieved victories in two of those cases.  Additionally, the summer clerks also finalized a pro se debt management manual and gave two live seminars for Whitman-Walker clients on how to deal with creditors, manage debt and achieve and maintain a positive credit rating.  The firm has also provided significant financial support over the years through AIDS Walk participation and sponsorship of the Clinic's annual Going the Extra Mile and Spring Gala fundraising events.  Wiley Rein attorneys have also donated many hours of their own time serving on the Legal Services Operating Committee and on various steering committees for fundraising events.

Wiley Rein is very proud of its relationship with the Clinic and is gratified to support its vital work on behalf of people living with HIV and AIDS.
