Wiley Rein and Several Attorneys Recognized for Pro Bono Work Helping the Homeless

November 25, 2008

At a volunteer appreciation event held earlier this month, Wiley Rein and several of its attorneys were recognized for more than a decade of service to the Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless (WLCH).

Wiley Rein attorneys manage one of WLCH’s intake centers at the Church of the Brethren in Southeast Washington, DC—which also operates a soup kitchen—where they meet once a month with potential clients and provide legal guidance on such issues as housing, disability, benefits and public assistance.

The WLCH advocates on behalf of those who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless in Washington, DC.  Since its founding in 1986, WLCH has become a principal force in protecting the rights of homeless and other low-income people through a combination of direct representation, class action litigation, policy and budget advocacy and community outreach and organizing.

The firm is proud to support the activities of the WLCH as part of its pro bono outreach in the community.
