Wiley Rein Team Secures "Fully Favorable" Decision in Pro Bono Case before the Social Security Administration

Wiley Rein recently secured a "fully favorable" decision on behalf of a pro bono client before the Social Security Administration (SSA).  The decision resolves an appeal filed on behalf of the client after he was denied disability benefits in 2008.  Wiley Rein partner Eric Andreas and associates W. Barron A. Avery and Tessa Capeloto presented a brief to an administrative law judge, detailing the client's medical history and setting forth the legal basis for their client's entitlement to benefits.  The Wiley Rein team also represented their client in a hearing before the judge, in which Mr. Avery and Ms. Capeloto successfully argued their client's position.  Overturning the SSA's previous ruling, the "fully favorable" decision found that the client was disabled under the SSA's five-step sequential evaluation process and awarded benefits to the client on a retroactive basis, beginning in 2003.  Legal assistant Sora Chung also participated in the successful appeal.
