Wiley Rein’s Foggan, Hausman To Lead PLI Webcast on Hurricane Sandy’s Commercial Insurance Implications
Wiley Rein LLP partners Laura A. Foggan and Dale E. Hausman will lead a November 14 Practising Law Institute (PLI) webcast for businesses and commercial insurers that must respond to losses from Hurricane Sandy. Ms. Foggan and Mr. Hausman, who regularly represent insurers in important coverage matters, will discuss legal issues arising from real-property and business-interruption losses.
The one-hour presentation will include an overview of the steps businesses and insurers can take now to review relevant insurance programs. Ms. Foggan and Mr. Hausman also will focus on coverage limitations in widely used policy forms, and relevant U.S. case law from other events that caused business losses, such as Hurricane Katrina.
Ms. Foggan, chair of Wiley Rein’s Insurance Appellate Group, has made significant contributions to key insurance law precedents across the country. She serves as lead counsel in trial and appellate matters involving complex insurance claims under general liability and other policy forms, and counsels insurers on emerging exposures. Ms. Foggan has been named to such lists as Washingtonian’s “Best Lawyers,” Business Insurance magazine’s “Women to Watch” and Law360’s “10 Most Admired Insurance Attorneys.”
Mr. Hausman has more than 20 years of commercial and insurance-related litigation experience, including trial-level and appellate litigation involving complex, high-stakes disputes. He has represented several of the nation’s largest property and casualty insurers and reinsurers in disputes such as environmental claims, property loss and business-interruption claims.
