Wiley Rein Team Achieves Fully Favorable Decision in Pro Bono Disability Case
Wiley Rein attorneys Jillian Volkmar and Christen M. Price recently obtained a fully favorable decision for their client in a pro bono disability case.
Their client had been unable to work due to myofascial pain syndrome, chronic neck and shoulder pain, major depressive disorder, osteomyelitis, and chronic Hepatitis C and applied for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) disability benefits on September 22, 2010. The Social Security Administration twice rejected their client’s application for SSI benefits on October 3, 2011 and again on February 9, 2012. Ms. Volkmar then requested a hearing before an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) on February 28, 2012 and appeared on behalf of her client at the ALJ hearing. On February 28, 2013, the ALJ issued a fully favorable notice of decision finding their client disabled, and therefore eligible for future and past disability benefits dating back to September 22, 2010.
