Wiley Rein Partners with Jubilee Jobs to Provide Training for Job Seekers

August 1, 2013

Wiley Rein celebrates one year of partnering with Jubilee Jobs, Inc., a nonprofit workforce development organization that provides professional training sessions for job seekers.  Jubilee Jobs is committed to helping the poor, disadvantaged, and unemployed in the Washington, DC area obtain jobs and guide them in moving beyond poverty toward sustained self-sufficiency. Last year, through the organization’s efforts, 1,000 people were placed in jobs.

Wiley Rein has continued to support this worthy cause since August 2012 by providing developmental training in areas that can help Jubilee Jobs clients thrive in the workplace.  Brett Dengate, a member of the firm’s training and legal support team and a former practicing attorney, conducts pro bono training sessions such as “Attitude is Everything,” “Improved Communication,” “The Business of Listening,” “Dealing with Difficult People,” and “Assertiveness.”

Kay Tatum, a Wiley Rein partner who chairs the Corporate Practice, has been actively involved with Jubilee Jobs for two years.  Because of Wiley Rein’s longstanding tradition of service to the local community—as exemplified by the participation of its lawyers and paralegals in numerous pro bono activities—Ms. Tatum suggested the idea of the joint partnership and it was readily embraced by both parties.

As a homegrown Washington, DC firm, Wiley Rein is proud of its partnership with Jubilee Jobs because the organization plays such a vital role in the local community.
