Wiley Rein & Fielding Insurance Practice and Attorneys Recognized as Leaders in Their Field

May 14, 2004

Washington, DC—Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business has once again ranked Wiley Rein & Fielding LLP’s Insurance Practice among the best in the District of Columbia and named attorneys Thomas W. Brunner and Laura A. Foggan as "Leading Individuals" in their field. Ratings are based on extensive interviews of law firms’ clients, colleagues and competitors.

The 2004 edition of the Chambers guide recognizes the firm’s 40-plus attorney Insurance practice as "a sophisticated big league performer capable of mixing it with the best." It notes that the firm "represents some of the biggest insurance carriers on coverage disputes related to products liability and the environment and hazardous waste, while also enjoying a burgeoning directors’ and officers’ liability practice." Brunner, who chairs the practice, is acknowledged for his negotiating skills and is hailed as "an attorney who it’s a pleasure to be holed up with behind the scenes." Foggan is credited as the "driving force" behind the firm’s complex insurance claims litigation (CICLA) work."

This is the second year that London-based Chambers and Partners has published the USA guide. Chambers researchers evaluate law firms and attorneys on a number of factors, including: technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial awareness/astuteness, diligence, commitment and other qualities most valued by the client.

WRF’s Insurance Practice handles coverage dispute resolution, bad faith and market conduct litigation, insurance fraud issues, litigation management & claims counseling and reinsurance.
