Wiley Rein’s Jerita Salley Named a Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Fellow
Washington, DC—Wiley Rein LLP has chosen Jerita L. DeBraux Salley, a partner in the firm’s Corporate Practice, to be a member of the 2017 class of Fellows, participating in a landmark program created by the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) to identify, train, and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal profession.
“Wiley Rein is proud to have Jerita named as an LCLD Fellow, and we’re proud to participate in the program again this year,” said Managing Partner Peter D. Shields. “Jerita has shown outstanding leadership in her field and is one of the firm’s leading transactional lawyers for clients across a range of practice areas. We know LCLD’s strong program will help Jerita to further develop her professional and leadership skills.”
Ms. Salley counsels and negotiates contracts on behalf of broadcast and cable companies, financial institutions, nonprofit organizations, and other clients in regulated industries, including the communications and government contracts industries, and non-regulated industries, in a wide variety of corporate governance and transactional matters. She also has served as co-chair of the Transactional Practice Committee for the Federal Communications Bar Association.
In 2015, Ms. Salley was named to the Global Advisory Board of the Women in Law Empowerment Forum, the premier organization for women attorneys from the largest law firms and corporate law departments in the United States as well as London. Ms. Salley was also named one of City Year Washington, DC’s Idealists of the Year for her exemplary volunteer efforts in the local community.
According to LCLD President Robert J. Grey, Jr., the LCLD Fellows Program offers participants “an extraordinarily rich year of relationship-building, in-person training, peer-group projects, and extensive contact with LCLD’s top leadership.
Founded in 2009, LCLD is a growing organization of more than 265 corporate general counsel and law firm managing partners who are personally committed to creating a more diverse and inclusive legal profession. The LCLD Fellows program, which has trained more than 1,000 mid-career attorneys since 2011, is one of LCLD’s most important initiatives.
