Kirk Nahra Advises Reviewing HIPAA Compliance Efforts in Podcast Interview

Wiley Rein partner Kirk J. Nahra was interviewed for an October 29 podcast where he discussed the proposed Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) modification rule. In the interview, Mr. Nahra noted that this proposed rule is “a wake-up call for compliance.” He also explained that the modifications “would toughen enforcement and set penalties of up to $1.5 million for violations of the HIPAA privacy and security rules” and added that “this is a good opportunity to revisit your HIPAA compliance efforts to help ensure your organization doesn’t get hit with the tougher penalties.”
