Wiley Rein & Fielding's Communications Practice and Richard E. Wiley Receive Top Honors

May 12, 2004

Washington, DC-Wiley Rein & Fielding LLP's Communications Practice and its Managing Partner, Richard E. Wiley, have again received top honors in the legal directory Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business. Ratings are based on extensive interviews of law firms' clients, colleagues and competitors; listings include their comments.

Recognizing the breadth of the practice's capabilities and its focus on client service, the Chambers guide notes, "peers rate this practice for its 'ability to cover the full range of issues,' while clients value the firm's 'responsive lawyers who are well respected on the Hill.'" One client told the guide that the group's "knowledge of the workings of the FCC is the best in DC."

Accolades extend to Richard Wiley, who is described as a "household name." In interviews, his peers called him an "omnipresent force of nature" and clients commented that "he really is one of a kind: he's the former chair of the FCC and he's plainly the dean of the Communications Bar." Overall, Wiley was rated the "Leading Individual" of all communications lawyers.

This is the second year that London-based Chambers and Partners has published the USA guide. Chambers researchers evaluate law firm and attorneys on a number of factors, including: technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial awareness/astuteness, diligence, commitment and other qualities most valued by the client.

Wiley Rein & Fielding has the most comprehensive team of communications law specialists in the United States. More than 70 attorneys are engaged full time in the Communications Practice Group, which encompasses virtually all aspects of the federal, state and international laws governing the media and telecommunications industry.
