FCC to Hold Spectrum Auction Workshop for Broadcasters on October 26
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has announced details about its first Learn Everything About Reverse-Auctions Now (LEARN) workshop. The workshop will be held on Friday, October 26 from 1:30 to 3:15 pm and will focus on issues raised in the incentive auction Notice of Proposed Rule Making (which we discussed in detail here) that are of particular relevance to broadcasters. For broadcasters considering participating in the auction, panelists will discuss proposed auction designs, the mechanics of participation and station eligibility. The workshop will also address proposed band plans and possible approaches to repacking. Scheduled panelists include Bill Lake, Chief of the FCC's Media Bureau, and Gary Epstein, Chair of the FCC's Incentive Auction Task Force.
The free workshop, which will be held at the FCC's headquarters in Washington, D.C., will be broadcast live via the internet at http://www.fcc.gov/live. Questions may be submitted anonymously via email to email@example.com or via Twitter using the hashtag #fcclive.
