Rand Allen Discusses Government Contracts Acquisition Reform
Rand L. Allen, chair of Wiley Rein’s Government Contracts Practice, was quoted extensively in a Law360 article published yesterday about possible ways Congress could reform regulations surrounding the government contract process. The article discusses a greater investment in government personnel; allowing for more innovation; and streamlining and reducing audits and bid protests. Mr. Allen said that bid protests unfairly get a lot of the blame by critics who say the process introduces delays and uncertainty. “There's a lot of conventional wisdom and urban legend about protests, but in my experience the Government Accountability Office has done a pretty good job of striking a balance between transparency and efficiency,” Mr. Allen said.
