David Weslow Predicts Increased Litigation in 2015 Involving Domain Registries
David E. Weslow, a partner in Wiley Rein’s Intellectual Property Practice, was quoted yesterday by Bloomberg BNA’s Electronic Commerce & Law Report, in an article about the top policy development areas for the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers in 2015.
The diversity of new generic top-level domain (gTLD) registry practices, and the ongoing schedule for launching the registries, will likely lead to an increase in gTLD-related litigation this year, Mr. Weslow told Bloomberg BNA.
“Given the significant differences in registry business models, I anticipate a range of claims including IP infringement, antitrust, unfair competition, and unfair and deceptive trade practices,” he said.
