Wiley Rein's Scott Delacourt Quoted Discussing Mobile Apps and Privacy Issues on FCBA/DC Bar Panel
Communications Practice partner Scott Delacourt was quoted in a discussion on the rise of mobile apps and the related privacy and data security implications. Speaking on a May 4 panel sponsored by the Federal Communications Bar Association (FCBA) and DC Bar, participants said that mobile apps raise many questions for the telecommunications industry such as how identifying information is stored, and added that the federal government will likely have to help guide the industry through the creation of rules and regulations. Mr. Delacourt predicted a limited role for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on the issue and that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) will take the lead. “The FCC, even though it has interest in this area, is still concerned about its authority on this issue,” he said.
