International Trade Partner Daniel Pickard Comments on Increase in Tariffs for Chinese Sawblades
International Trade Practice partner Daniel Pickard was quoted commenting on the Commerce Department's decision to consider new tariffs on the import of Chinese-made diamond sawblades. Commerce decided that the makers and exporters of diamond sawblades were "underpaying anti-dumping duties on their products" and set a duty rate of 164.09 percent. The ruling applies to the Hebei Jikai Industrial Group Co. Ltd. And Hebei Husqvarna-Jikai Diamond Tools Co. Ltd-distributors and exporters of sawblades. "We are extremely pleased that Commerce has halted this abuse of the anti-dumping duty laws," Mr. Pickard-who represents the Diamond Sawblades Manufacturers' Coalition-said in a statement. "Commerce's decision not only ensures that importers will be required to pay the full amount of duties that they owe, it protects American sawblade companies and their workers from these unfairly priced imports," he added.
