Christopher Weld Comments on Trump’s Plan to Require U.S.-Made Steel in Construction of Pipelines
Christopher B. Weld, a partner in Wiley Rein’s International Trade Practice, was quoted on January 25 by Inside U.S. Trade’s World Trade Online, in an article about President Trump’s proposal to require the use of American steel in the development and repair of pipelines. Trade experts weighed in on how the proposal could impact prices, foreign imports, and the domestic steel industry.
Mr. Weld noted that President Trump’s emphasis on domestically manufactured steel is “not at all surprising” given his campaign promises. “It’s a positive development for the U.S. manufacturing industry—for American iron and steel producers in particular,” Mr. Weld added.
