Kirk Nahra Quoted in Law360’s Cybersecurity & Privacy Predictions for 2019
Law360 examined opinions in areas including the cyberthreat landscape, vendor security, privacy regulations on the state level, and developments in the area of international data transfers. Mr. Nahra weighed in on the role that state Attorneys General (AG) could play this year in privacy and security enforcement.
In 2018, for example, state AGs came together to bring the first-ever multistate data breach suit based on alleged HIPAA violations. In another case, all 50 states reached a multi-million dollar settlement with a ride-sharing company over a 2016 data breach that the company has admitted it paid the hackers to cover up, according to Law360.
“I will be watching carefully whether these are one-offs or [if] there is a more concerted effort by state AGs on these issues,” said Mr. Nahra.
