Chambers USA Rates Wiley Rein's Intellectual Property Practice Among Washington, DC's Best

June 13, 2011

The 2011 edition of Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business recognizes Wiley Rein as one of Washington, DC's best Trademark, Copyright & Trade Secrets firms. Copyright Group chair Bruce G. Joseph and Patent Group chair James H. Wallace, Jr. are named "Leading Lawyers."

Chambers notes that Wiley Rein "litigates across the board in IP," and commends the group for its representation of "clients ranging from small startups to Fortune 100 companies, in industries as varied as communications, pharmaceuticals, government contracts and manufacturing."

Bruce Joseph, one of only a handful of "Leading Lawyers" recognized in the Trademark, Copyright & Trade Secrets field, receives high praise, with Chambers quoting one source as saying "He is the finest IP lawyer I have worked with and has a deep understanding of the law and business." Chambers notes that Mr. Joseph represented "Ericsson in litigation concerning license fees for music implicated in ring tones and preview samples."

Recognizing James Wallace as a top Intellectual Property lawyer, the directory notes that he "represents TomTom in three infringement suits filed by patent holding companies against multiple makers of GPS devices. He has litigated over patents relating to, among other things, communications satellites, network interface devices, pharmaceuticals and semiconductors."

The Chambers ratings are based on extensive interviews of law firms' clients, colleagues and competitors. Inclusion in the directory is determined through a rigorous vetting process.
