Commercial Litigation Attorney Scott Wilkens Joins Wiley Rein as a Partner in the TMT Practice

February 5, 2019

Washington, DC — Wiley Rein LLP announced today that commercial litigation attorney Scott B. Wilkens has joined the firm as a partner in the Telecom, Media & Technology (TMT) Practice. His diverse experience includes representing leading broadcast and entertainment companies in high-profile copyright infringement litigation, and advising U.S. and global corporations in matters involving Internet services and technologies, complex commercial litigation, and intellectual property.

Drawing on more than 15 years of civil litigation experience at the trial and appellate levels, Mr. Wilkens will advise the firm’s clients on a range of legal and regulatory matters in complex and continually developing areas of law. He comes to Wiley Rein from an Am Law 100 firm, where he had been a partner since 2010.

“It is a privilege to welcome Scott to the firm, where the versatility of his litigation experience will build on the strengths of our preeminent TMT Group,” said Managing Partner Peter D. Shields. “His impressive track record in complex commercial disputes and extensive knowledge in copyright, Internet, and media matters will bring great value to our clients.”

Mr. Wilkens has been named one of DC’s “Rising Stars” by Super Lawyers magazine, and one of the “40 Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40” by the National LGBT Bar Association. He served as a law clerk for the Honorable Raymond C. Fisher of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School, where he was editor of the Harvard Law Review, and his M.Sc. from the London School of Economics, where he was a Fulbright Scholar. He received his B.A. with highest distinction and honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a Morehead Scholar.

Wiley Rein’s TMT Practice is the largest in the country, with more than 60 attorneys and engineers engaged full time in matters that encompass virtually all aspects of the federal, state, and international laws governing the telecommunications, media, and technology industries. The team is committed to understanding the implications of technology and industry changes for clients, as evidenced by a team of engineers who are integrated into our legal and policy capabilities. In addition, our TMT attorneys are actively engaged in FTC rulemakings, policy, investigations, and enforcement proceedings.
