Scott Weaver Named to The Hill’s ‘Top Lobbyists 2018: Hired Guns’ List
Washington, DC— Wiley Rein is pleased to announce that Scott Weaver, chair of the firm’s Public Policy Practice, has been named to The Hill’s “Top Lobbyists 2018: Hired Guns” list. For two years running, Mr. Weaver has been named to this highly competitive honor roll, described by The Hill as “the most distinguished and accomplished professionals from the influence world who are on the front lines of the nation’s most consequential political and policy battles.” The list, which recognizes the most effective lobbyists and influencers from thousands of law firms, associations, and advocacy groups, was also featured in Politico’s Influence column.
A veteran Capitol Hill staffer and public policy advocate, Mr. Weaver has been at the forefront of historic activities at all levels of the federal government, counseling Fortune 100 companies, innovators, trade associations, and nonprofit organizations on how to navigate the highly volatile and complex nature of the Washington, DC landscape. As both a senior staffer on Capitol Hill and an executive in the private sector, he has been significantly involved in developing numerous landmark pieces of legislation and multipronged advocacy plans.
Throughout his career, Mr. Weaver has worked closely with members of Congress on both sides of the aisle, as well as congressional committee and leadership staff, government agencies, and the Executive branch. He regularly assists clients with legislative priorities regarding transportation, health care, homeland security, financial services, tax, labor, environmental, appropriations, and telecommunications issues.
Mr. Weaver previously served as vice president of Government and Political Affairs for Airports Council International – North America; chief of staff for former Rep. Katherine Harris (R-FL); and policy advisor for former Rep. John Sullivan (R-OK). He also played key roles in several Republican House, Senate, gubernatorial, and presidential races. Mr. Weaver also currently serves on numerous elected officials’ steering and advisory committees.
