July 16, 2019

Washington, DCWorking Mother revealed its 12th annual “Best Law Firms for Women” list today, recognizing firms that utilize best practices in recruiting, retaining, promoting and developing women lawyers. Wiley Rein LLP, for the second year in a row, was among 60 firms nationally that made the list – and was one of only eight Washington, DC-based firms to be recognized. Wiley Rein received particularly high marks in the areas of “Support for Re-Entry Moms,” “Relationships and Mentoring,” and “Recruiting, Tracking and Accountability.”

The full list of the 2019 Best Law Firms for Women, available here, highlights law firms including Wiley Rein that were chosen based on factors such as career advancement initiatives, parental leave, and work-life balance. Working Mother collaborated with the ABA Journal in compiling the list.

“We are proud of our efforts to attract, retain, and promote the advancement of women attorneys at all stages of their legal careers,” said Wiley Rein partner Anna M. Gomez, chair of the firm’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. “We are honored to have again earned this recognition from Working Mother, which reflects our commitment to initiatives and opportunities that enable women to flourish and rise to leadership positions, both inside and outside the firm.”

Wiley Rein’s key initiatives include participation in the OnRamp Fellowship program – which matches law firms with experienced women returning to the workforce after a career break – as well as the firm’s innovative Women in Government Contracts (WiGC) program, which utilizes networking, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing to advance women professionals in government contracting law.

In addition, the firm’s Women’s Forum – started in 2013 and led by partners Rachel A. AlexanderLaura El-Sabaawi, and Eve Klindera Reed – provides Wiley Rein attorneys with mentoring, career advancement, networking, and business development opportunities.

Firms that applied to be considered for the “Best Law Firms for Women” list were subject to rigorous scrutiny by Working Mother. The application included more than 300 questions about attorney demographics at different levels, schedule flexibility, paid time off and parental leaves, and development and retention of women.

Wiley Rein was also recently named to Law360’s 2019 list of the 25 “Best Law Firms for Women and Minority Attorneys,” based on a survey of the firm’s female representation at the partner and non-partner levels, and its total number of female attorneys.
