Wiley Promotes Megan Brown and Duane Pozza to Co-Chairs of Privacy, Cyber & Data Governance Practice

Washington, DC – Wiley, a preeminent Washington, DC law firm, announced that Telecom, Media & Technology partners Megan L. Brown and Duane C. Pozza will co-chair the Privacy, Cyber & Data Governance Practice.

Brown and Pozza’s appointments are a natural outgrowth of the increased demand for these capabilities, which has expanded as the regulatory landscape evolves rapidly to keep pace with advances in technology, explained Kathleen A. Kirby, co-chair of Wiley’s Telecom, Media & Technology (TMT) Practice.

“Wiley’s Privacy, Cyber & Data Governance Practice has been a key practice within the TMT Group for more than a decade, but the demand expanded beyond our TMT clients. Attorneys in the group are advising on privacy and cyber matters across many other sectors including health care, government contracting, manufacturing, retail, and financial services,” said Kirby. “Appointing Megan and Duane to lead the practice was a natural choice. They have been instrumental in managing the high volume of client demand and ushering new talent into the Privacy/Cyber team.”

Wiley’s Privacy, Cyber & Data Governance team assists clients with a full spectrum of privacy, cybersecurity, and data governance issues. The practice advises on compliance, transactional diligence, and strategic advocacy, in addition to handling investigations, enforcement, and litigation. The practice covers privacy and cybersecurity issues involving cutting-edge technology and data use, including novel health care applications and artificial intelligence (AI).

“Our team is ahead of the curve in offering clients guidance on the most recent privacy and AI developments,” said Pozza. “We have significant expertise on the regulatory, legal, and policy issues that impact AI and are advising a wide range of clients deploying AI.”

Brown represents clients in cybersecurity and data privacy issues, advising domestic and international companies on cutting-edge compliance and risk management, including global standards work. She represents corporations in complex proceedings concerning technological innovation and regulation. Brown helps clients respond to government agency and congressional inquiries and develop advocacy and compliance strategies before the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Federal Communications Commission, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and state consumer protection and cybersecurity regulators. Brown regularly speaks and writes on these issues and has testified before the Senate Commerce Committee.

Pozza, who previously served as Assistant Director in the Division of Financial Practices at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), advises clients on complex legal and regulatory matters involving privacy, consumer protection, and data governance, with a focus on regulation involving emerging technology including AI. He handles government investigations and enforcement actions and represents clients before the FTC and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, among other agencies. He has particular experience working with clients on financial technology (fintech), payments, digital assets, and AI.
