Roderick Thomas to Co-Chair ACI’s Forum on False Claims & Qui Tam Enforcement

Washington, DCRoderick L. Thomas, partner in Wiley Rein’s White Collar Defense & Government Investigations Practice, will serve as distinguished co-chair of the American Conference Institute’s (ACI) “Sixth Advanced Forum on False Claims & Qui Tam Enforcement” on January 28-29 at the Park Lane Hotel, 36 Central Park South in New York. The forum will focus on the latest enforcement and recovery efforts, with emphasis on False Claims Act (FCA) activity affecting such industry sectors as defense and aerospace, technology and communications, financial services, life sciences, and health care.

Catherine Kane Ronis, Vice President of BAE Systems, Inc., will also serve as distinguished co-chair along with Mr. Thomas. The keynote address on January 28 will be given by Stephen Cox, Deputy Associate Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice. Mr. Thomas also is a featured speaker on January 28 for the panel discussion “False Claims Act Enforcement State of the Union: The Politics and Policies of Enforcement.”

The forum will provide white collar defense and government investigations practitioners and leaders with an opportunity to discuss and analyze the latest guidance, initiatives, and enforcement statistics related to the FCA. Speakers include government prosecutors and leading in-house counsel from industries most impacted by the expanding reach of the FCA.

Mr. Thomas is a former federal prosecutor who specializes in criminal and civil government investigations and litigation, internal investigations, civil fraud allegations, and congressional investigations. He served more than 10 years in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, DC, in both the Criminal and Civil Divisions, and was lead counsel on numerous criminal and civil trials. He routinely represents clients in internal investigations, FCA and qui tam matters, investigations related to government contracts and grants, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) matters, subpoenas and civil investigative demands, congressional investigations, health care fraud and food and drug investigations, ethics issues, whistleblower claims, and parallel criminal and civil investigations.
